It’s Been A While

Because we’ve been busy with projects. Large, fun and challenging projects. From outfitting a 2,000 acre Northern California sustainable working ranch to a gorgeous new build with panoramic views of Mount Diablo in Lafayette and a neighbor remodel, also in Lafayette.

These projects do not happen overnight. Permitting takes from 6 - 12 months depending on the jurisdiction and complexity of the project. Coordinating and scheduling the vendors, utilities, components, equipment and preparatory work gives each project it’s own distinct personality. There’s a good argument to be made that some projects acquire Bi-Polar personalities. Patience and communication, keeping all stake holders informed and up to date is paramount to success.

With the changes in the solar industry over the last two years, we’ve seen many business go bankrupt and on some of these projects, the owners had to let incompetent vendors and manufacturers go and we helped then pick up the pieces to keep the projects on track.

One Solar installer damaged the expensive metal roof when they improperly installed the panels. We got involved and helped the owner recoup costs on the damages, found a competent vendor and saw the project through to completion, cutover and as close to Net-Zero as one can with a 10,000 square foot home that want’s to be an energy hog.

We don’t dictate what the owner will get. We work with the owner to understand their energy goals and objectives and design systems around those goals. Stay tuned for more project profiles as we’ve finally come up for some fresh air. Cheers.
